Term 4 Week 8 2023
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well as we approach the end of another fantastic school year at Mapleton State School. 2023 has been a great year in which our students have excelled both academically and socially. We have some exciting events lined up to close the year on a high note!
School Concert: November 27th, 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Our annual school concert is just around the corner, scheduled for November 27th from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm in the school hall. Our talented students have been working hard to showcase their skills and creativity. Join us for an afternoon of delightful performances and support our budding artists.
Year 6 Graduation: November 30th
As we bid farewell to our Year 6 students, we invite Parents and Carers to the Graduation ceremony on Thursday, November 30th. It's a time to celebrate the achievements and growth of our graduating class. The ceremony will be a special moment for students, teachers, and families alike.
Swimming Carnival: December 6th (Year 3-6 Students)
The Swimming Carnival for Year 3-6 students is scheduled for December 6th. It promises to be a day filled with friendly competition, team spirit and excitement. Please ensure your child comes prepared with their swimming gear, and we look forward to seeing you there to cheer on our swimmers! A reminder that permission notes and payments are due to the office by Wednesday 29 November.
Exciting Plans for 2024
Looking ahead to the next school year, we have some exciting changes on the horizon. In 2024, we are planning to run seven straight classes with no composites, dependant on student enrolment numbers. This adjustment aims to enhance the learning experience for all students.
Class Teacher Allocations for 2024
Next week, on Thursday, a letter will be sent to parents detailing the class teacher allocations for the upcoming school year. The letter will include details about meeting your child’s 2024 teacher.
Water Testing
The department is still conducting additional water testing around the school, they are working diligently to resolve the issue. Students, staff and visitors to the school will continue to be provided with bottled drinking water until the issue is rectified.
A Special Thank You to the P&C
We would like to express our gratitude to the Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association for their invaluable contributions to our school community. The Containers for Change initiative and the provision of sports equipment for our students has been very well received. Next week we will start the borrowing process for students during second break.
As always, we appreciate your ongoing support and involvement in your child's education. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the school office.
Thank you for being part of our Mapleton State School community, and we look forward to celebrating these upcoming events with you before the approaching summer break!

From the Business Manager
In readiness for 2024 I have created a Centrepay account for Mapleton State School. Centrepay provides a service of setting up regular deductions from some Centrelink payments. If families are receiving Centrepay approved Centrelink payments, you can now set up deductions to assist with management of paying for school excursions and incursions.
Centrepay gives you control over the target amount, start, change or stop deductions at any time, at no cost to you. While Centrepay allows you to manage your payments, you still need to meet the payments required by Mapleton State School.
Once you have created a regular deduction, please let me know. If you have questions regarding Centrepay please contact Centrelink on 136150, or for questions relating to how it works from the School side, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
To read more about how to use your Centrelink online account to add a new Centrepay deduction, please click on the below link.

I wish all families a safe and happy festive season and I look forward to seeing you all in 2024.

Year 1 News
In Grade 1 Science the students created a musical instrument and then posed a question about a change they could make to the instrument to alter the sound.
Year 5/6 News
Grade Six Students experienced a day at Burnside State High school. It was a well organised and informative day. We were able to look at some of the many subject choices at Burnside. We made keychains in Woodwork, coded robots, looked at the fish tanks in Marine Science and played Volleyball. We also had a tour of the school as well as a question and answer session, so many questions! It was a great day and I am sure it helped a lot of the students.
Cate was awarded a State Honours in the Ensemble Program when she travelled to Maryborough earlier this Term. Well Done Cate, we are all very proud of you.
Remembrance Day 11th November, 2023
Special days like these are important to share with our Mapleton Community and we have a great relationship with the RSL, Thank you Matt Dykes for again inviting us to share your Remembrance Day Service.

State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) - Maryborough
Congratulations to Cate, who was selected and attended the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) - Maryborough held at Maryborough High School from 13-15 October. SHEP provides an opportunity for wind, brass, percussion, string, and vocal students to work in an intensive environment of musical excellence with their peers, under the leadership of a team of eminent conductors from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. I am certain Cate proudly represented our Mapleton Community, while enjoying this exciting musical opportunity, and will happily share knowledge of this experience with everyone. Well done, Cate!
